Refund & Cancellation Policy
Effective Date: July 13, 2026
Last Updated: July 13, 2026
This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how our fees work, how to close your account, and how refunds are handled. It is part of, and should be read together with, our Terms of Service. "HuVia," "we," "our," or "us" means HuVia Technologies LLC, which operates I Hate Invoicing (the "Service").
How Our Pricing Works
I Hate Invoicing is free to use. There is no subscription, no monthly fee, and nothing to cancel in the billing sense. You can create and send unlimited invoices for free.
- We earn revenue through a processing fee of 5.9% + $0.59 that applies only when a client actually pays one of your invoices.
- The fee is deducted automatically at the time of payment as a platform fee through Stripe. You are never billed separately, and you are never charged unless you get paid.
- Because there is no recurring charge, there is no subscription to cancel and no renewal to stop.
Current pricing is always shown at our pricing page.
Closing Your Account
You can stop using the Service at any time. Because the Service is free, closing your account does not involve any cancellation fee or final bill.
- Self-service: You can delete your account from your account settings at any time.
- By email: You can also ask us to close your account by writing to hello@huvia.ai from your account email.
- Export first: Please export or save any invoices and records you want to keep before closing your account.
- Data retention: After you close your account, we retain and then delete your data as described in our Privacy Policy and as required by law. Some records may be retained where necessary for legal, tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Your Stripe account is separate from your I Hate Invoicing account. Closing your I Hate Invoicing account does not close your Stripe account; manage that directly with Stripe.
Refunds of Our Processing Fee
Our processing fee is earned when a client pays your invoice, and it covers real costs we incur at that moment, including payment-processing costs. As a result:
- Processing fees are generally non-refundable once a payment has been collected.
- We will refund our fee where we made a clear error — for example, if we charged the wrong platform-fee amount because of a bug on our side. Contact us and we will investigate and correct verified errors.
- If a client payment is fully refunded or reversed, the treatment of the associated processing fee is handled through Stripe in accordance with Stripe's terms.
- Nothing in this policy limits any rights you have that cannot be waived under applicable law.
Refunds to Your Clients
This is important. You — not HuVia — are the seller and merchant of record for the goods or services you invoice. We provide the software; we are not a party to the transaction between you and your client.
- If your client is entitled to a refund, you issue that refund to them. Refunds to clients are processed through Stripe, between you, your client, and Stripe.
- We do not decide, guarantee, or fund refunds owed by you to your clients, and we do not mediate disputes between you and your clients.
- You are responsible for your own refund and cancellation terms with your clients, and for communicating them clearly on your invoices.
Chargebacks & Disputes
When a client disputes a charge with their bank or card network, the chargeback is handled by Stripe under Stripe's dispute process.
- Because you are the merchant of record, you are responsible for responding to disputes on your transactions and for any resulting reversals, fees, or negative balances, as determined by Stripe and the card networks.
- We may provide invoice records to help you respond to a dispute, but we do not control the outcome, which is decided by the client's bank or card network.
- Abusive or fraudulent activity may lead us to suspend or terminate your account as described in our Terms of Service.
Your Statutory Rights
Consumer-protection laws in your jurisdiction (for example, in the EU, the UK, California, or Australia) may give you rights that cannot be waived by contract. Nothing in this policy limits those non-waivable rights. Where such laws provide protections greater than this policy, those laws apply.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
