Where it started

Founder Sarah Wheeler served in the United States Air Force and has spent more than twenty years working as a professional interpreter and language access provider. She holds two master's degrees, one in interpreting pedagogy and one in psychology, and has freelanced across medical, legal, community, and educational settings.

Why it exists

During those years, invoicing was a constant headache. For Sarah, and for the freelance interpreters and other contractors she worked with, getting paid meant losing evenings to spreadsheets, tracking down purchase orders, and chasing late payments instead of recovering from high stakes assignments or focusing on their craft.

Who built it

HuVia's CTO, Maddox Wheeler, brings a systems and AI engineering perspective shaped by years in high performance competitive soccer and dedicated study of modern AI architectures and infrastructure. He builds the technical backbone that lets I Hate Invoicing automate invoicing through simple conversations instead of complex software, so users can talk to the system in plain language and let it handle the paperwork.

What it is

I Hate Invoicing was created to solve the invoicing problem first for interpreters and then for any freelancer who would rather spend their time on the work they care about than on chasing accounts receivable. It is HuVia's invoicing companion, an AI powered, conversation based way to handle invoices that was designed by people who have lived the invoicing nightmare and finally decided it was time to fix it.
