Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using I Hate Invoicing ("the Service," "we," "our," or "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and I Hate Invoicing. Please read them carefully.

Description of Service

I Hate Invoicing is an AI-powered invoicing platform that enables freelancers and independent professionals to:

  • Create professional invoices using natural language
  • Send invoices to clients via email
  • Receive payments via Stripe
  • Track invoice status and payment history
  • Manage client information

The Service is provided "as is" and we reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.

Eligibility

To use the Service, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Not be prohibited from using the Service under any applicable law
  • Not have been previously banned or suspended from the Service

By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

Account Registration

Account Creation

To use the Service, you must create an account. When creating an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate and current
  • Maintain the security of your password
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
  • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

Account Security

You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account information. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately at info@buildingbridgeslearning.com.

Acceptable Use

Permitted Use

You may use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree to use the Service:

  • To create legitimate invoices for services or products you have provided
  • To communicate professionally with your clients
  • In compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • In a manner that does not infringe on the rights of others

Prohibited Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Create fraudulent or deceptive invoices
  • Use the Service for money laundering or illegal financial activity
  • Spam or harass clients or other users
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts
  • Upload viruses, malware, or other malicious code
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) without our permission
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers

Enforcement

We reserve the right to investigate and take appropriate action against anyone who violates these Terms, including removing content, suspending or terminating accounts, and reporting to law enforcement authorities.

Subscription and Billing

Subscription Tiers

We offer three subscription tiers:

  • Free: 3 invoices per month, no payment required
  • Starter: $12.99/month for 18 invoices per month
  • Pro: $19.99/month for unlimited invoices

Pricing is subject to change with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.

Billing

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. If payment fails, we may suspend your account until payment is received.

Cancellation and Refunds

  • You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings
  • Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period
  • No partial refunds are provided for unused portions of a billing period
  • Free tier users may delete their account at any time with no penalty
  • Refunds may be issued at our discretion in cases of billing errors or service disruptions

Free Trial

We may offer free trials for paid plans. Free trials automatically convert to paid subscriptions unless canceled before the trial ends. We will notify you before charging your payment method.

Payment Processing

Stripe Integration

All payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe"). By using our payment features, you agree to be bound by Stripe's terms and conditions. We do not store credit card information on our servers.

Your Stripe Account

To receive payments from your clients, you must connect a Stripe account. You are responsible for:

  • Complying with Stripe's terms of service
  • Providing accurate banking information
  • Any fees charged by Stripe for payment processing
  • Tax reporting and compliance related to your income
  • Chargebacks or disputes initiated by your clients

Our Role

We facilitate payment processing but are not a party to transactions between you and your clients. We are not responsible for payment disputes, chargebacks, or fraud between you and your clients.

Intellectual Property

Our Intellectual Property

The Service and all content, features, and functionality are owned by I Hate Invoicing and are protected by:

  • Copyright
  • Trademark
  • Patent
  • Trade secret
  • Other intellectual property laws

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our express written permission.

Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you create using the Service, including:

  • Invoice data
  • Client information
  • Business information
  • Communications

By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to use, store, and process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

Feedback

If you provide us with feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us the right to use that feedback without compensation or attribution.

AI-Generated Content

Our Service uses artificial intelligence to generate invoice content based on your input. You acknowledge that:

  • AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies
  • You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all invoices before sending
  • We are not liable for errors in AI-generated content
  • You should not rely solely on AI-generated content without review
  • Final invoice accuracy is your responsibility

We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content.

Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Third-Party Services

Our Service integrates with third-party services, including:

  • Stripe (payment processing)
  • Supabase (database and authentication)
  • Anthropic (AI invoice generation)
  • Resend (email delivery)

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the actions or policies of third-party services.

Disclaimers

No Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Service Availability

We do not guarantee that the Service will be:

  • Uninterrupted or error-free
  • Available at all times
  • Free from viruses or other harmful components
  • Accurate, complete, or reliable
  • Suitable for your particular needs

Not Legal or Financial Advice

The Service is a tool for creating invoices and is not a substitute for professional legal, financial, or accounting advice. You should consult with qualified professionals regarding tax, legal, and financial matters.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, I HATE INVOICES, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless I Hate Invoicing and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any rights of another party
  • Your invoices or transactions with clients
  • Any content you submit or transmit through the Service

Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution

If you have a dispute with us, please contact us at info@buildingbridgeslearning.com to resolve it informally. We will work in good faith to resolve disputes before pursuing formal legal action.

Arbitration

Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You agree to waive your right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action lawsuit.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Modifications to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • Notify you via email to your registered address
  • Display a prominent notice on the Service

Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must stop using the Service and cancel your account.

Termination

Termination by You

You may terminate your account at any time by canceling your subscription and deleting your account from the account settings page. Upon termination, you will lose access to all invoices and data stored in the Service.

Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if:

  • You violate these Terms
  • Your use of the Service creates legal liability for us
  • Your account has been inactive for an extended period
  • We are required to do so by law
  • We decide to discontinue the Service

Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

  • Your access to the Service will be revoked immediately
  • We may delete your data in accordance with our data retention policy
  • You remain liable for all charges incurred before termination
  • Sections of these Terms that should survive termination will continue to apply

General Provisions

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and I Hate Invoicing regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.

No Agency

Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, employment, or agency relationship between you and I Hate Invoicing.
